Butter cake has long been one of the favourite cakes in my family and luckily my Aunt Florence had the ideal recipe for this very cake. Simple and easy to prepare, it is delicious when eaten fresh from the oven !

  Ingredients

  • 5 large eggs
  • 250grams of salted butter
  • 150grams of sugar
  • 180grams of flour
  Spices
There are no spices for this recipe.

  Directions
1 Beat the eggs and butter well together until soft peaks form. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200 degree Celsius.

2 Add in the sugar and mix in well.

3 Finally, add in the flour to form the cake mixture. Ensure that not too much flour is added till it becomes dough-like. The consistency should be like paste.

4 Pour the cake mixture into a well-oiled baking tin or the equivalent. Bake inside oven for 30-40 minutes.

5 Once done, remove from oven and baking tin and leave to cool by the side for about 10 minutes. Slice and serve!

  Cook's Tip

  • To test whether the center of the cake is cooked, insert a fork or a clean skewer into the middle of the cake. When you remove it and the skewer is clean, the cake is cooked. Just leave to bake for another 5-10 minutes for a nice brown skin. Otherwise, leave to bake for about 15-20 minutes, checking every ten minutes or so.
