My Grandma is famous in the family for this dish. It is a taste to be acquired as not many will adore the sourness of the tamarind mixed together with the prawns. However, if you are fan of sour dishes, try this. It certainly had played with my tastebuds.

  Ingredients

  • 600g medium sized prawns ( deshelled and de-veined)
  • 3 tomatoes ( cut into quarters )
  • 1/2 sprig of curry leaves
  • 2 heaped tbsp grated coconut and 1/2 cup water ( to be combined )
  • To be grounded 4 red chillies 1/2 sprig curry leaves 6 shallots 1 heaped teaspoon tamarind ( asam ) pulp, remove seeds 2 cloves garlic 1 slice ginger 1/2 cup water
  Spices
  • salt to taste

  Directions
1 Place prawns in pot. Add grounded ingredients, turmeric powder, curry leaves, tomato, coconut milk and salt.

2 Place prawns in pot. Add grounded ingredients, turmeric powder, curry leaves, tomato, coconut milk and salt.

2 Mix and cover and place mixture to boil over low heat.

3 When mixture is boiled. Stir it till prawns are cooked. Serve.
